Hi,

From reading the PBS documentation about Mom's config file, I am under the impression that specifying multiple $clienthost command lines should allow multiple systems to communicate to Mom as privaledged users and that the $restricted command . To test this, I have configured two servers using torque-1.0.1p6 and 90 compute nodes executing Mom. The config files on every compute node look like:

$logevent 0x0ff
$clienthost resslnxc1p-b
$clienthost resslnxc1p-a
$restricted resslnxc1p-b
$restricted resslnxc1p-a

When starting the mom on each of these nodes the log file for mom looks normal. However, the problem I have recognized is that if I perform a "pbsnodes -a" command from both servers...resslnxc1p-b and resslnxc1p-a, mom on the compute nodes responds to the first listed clienthost (resslnxc1p-b) with a state of "free" and all the resources available. However, the same command from subsequent listed clienthosts (in this case, resslnxc1p-a) return a state of "state-unknown, down". If I reverse the order of these entries in the config files for mom on the compute node and once again executed the "pbsnodes -a" command on both servers, then resslnxc1p-a gets the state of "free" and all the resources available and resslnxc1p-b now gets the state of "down". The state of "down" on resslnxc1p-b in this case is the same as "state-unknown, down" meaning that mom is not communicating to the server.

My questions are:

Is anyone executing multiple servers to common clients?
Am I understanding the the PBS documentation for clienthost and restricted hosts correctly?
If I am under the correct understanding, how does one get mom to communicate to multiple servers concurrently?
