No, I think you've got it. I was reading:

Which doesn't indicate a stage-out companion. But, as you say, if msub
takes "-l stageout=<yadda yadda>", that should do the trick.
Long term I'm hoping to get a "real" data manager (Globus, SRB) to
handle staging data for jobs. While I can control some things at the
job level, doing it at the scheduler level has some distinct advantages.
I'll give the msub a try- the data manager won't be coming anytime soon
