[Mauiusers] Jobs going in to deferred state

Hello

I installed torque and maui on a single system. The
node i added is the same system on which torque and
Maui is installed. My problem is when Iam checking the
node status, it is showing down. Even when it shows
state is up then when i tried to run a simle job, Maui
send that job in to deferred state. 
The Torque version installed is torque-2.1.8 and Maui
version is maui-3.2.6p19. Thr platform is Linux.

I am a student and doing this for my course project. 
Can somebody help me to resolve this issue.
